Today, I talked to a lot of people, which for me is like 10 people, but because I changed my routine, it helped me get this done in a way that was comfortable, and productive, and I liked that.
I sent “Happy New Year” messages, along with a question I like to ask: “What’s one of the things you’ve enjoyed and appreciate this year?”
The reason I ask this is that it shifts focus away from expectations and towards recognizing the value of what already exists, which people can then use as “fuel” to recreate, restore, and refine their motivation and goals
I didn’t get just “Happy New Year” back from the people who received this question, but got thought-out replies, even if those replies were a single paragraph, they mentioned the things they value most, like time with family: mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters, as well as new & old, and close & distant friends.
None of that “New Year’s Resolutions” stuff, because goals are always created, pursued, and achieved every single day.
